Lira, the small village where our house is located, is a quiet place where you can chat with the neighbours, buy fresh bread or fish from the daily delivery trucks, or enjoy the sunset from one of its viewpoints and the solitude of its beaches and coves.

Carnota, a peaceful place surrounded by nature, culture, and great food.

We encourage a conscious and relaxed kind of travel, where you can appreciate the local way of life and let yourself move at nature’s pace.

Nature

Go to the beach, hike, surf, or take a boat ride — these are just some of the activities you can enjoy near A Casiña de Lira.

Carnota Beach is the most famous, but there are many other stunning spots like Lariño, Ancoradoiro, Louro, and more — perfect for spending a great day by the sea.

One of the most recommended walks starts right at the house and leads to the Lariño Lighthouse, a majestic place where you can also grab an ice cream or have dinner at its small tavern.

Hiking up Monte Pindo is a must — a mountain steeped in legend. For a less demanding but equally beautiful route, you can climb Monte Louro, located in the nearby town of Muros.

Culture

The municipality of Carnota is home to over 900 hórreos — traditional Galician raised granaries used to store grain and other crops. There’s one in our garden, but the most iconic are the Hórreo de Carnota and the Hórreo de Lira, known for their size and excellent preservation.

The old town of Muros, just 10 minutes by car, was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1970. Getting lost in its narrow cobbled streets, enjoying a drink in its squares, or visiting the local market and fish auction are experiences not to be missed.

Also nearby are the Salt Factory and the Pozo do Cachón Tide Mill.

Food

You’re right between the Costa da Morte and the Rías Baixas — two culinary hotspots famous for their fish and seafood.

In Carnota and Muros, you’ll find plenty of options to enjoy fresh, local produce.

In Lira, just a 5-minute walk from the house, you’ll also find small spots serving traditional Galician tapas and dishes.
